I watched a live tv cop show two weeks ago where THREE cops were present, and the man arrested had been drinking...he weighed about 250 lbs, but was mouthy...did not do anything, and they hit him with taser gun, not once but twice because he was mouthy. I don't think that justifies 50,000 volts, twice. Had he resisted arrest, yes...but he did not.
I believe that the police are overreacting to the situations in which they are to be peacemakers. You cannot tell me that three cops needed to use that taser gun, to them it is a toy and they want to play with it...WRONG. It should be as sacred as the gun, you only use it if you need force. It is provided to save lives.
I had honked my horn at someone who pulled out in front of me, almost causing me to hit him. I changed lanes to avoid a collision. Evidently, he had better ties to the cops than I.
Oh, never mind then...... (still need the tag for slower people)

Just another stupid smart aleck cop! This cop needs a mental profile run on him and i'm sure they will find he became a cop because he could not force people to respect him otherwise.
I hope that was meant sarcastically, because "fearing the police" is not the objective I teach. The police are there to protect and serve. It says nothing about intimidation and "big brother" gustapo attitude.
It seems that is the trend. No backtalk tolerated.
Or: "That's what happens when you quit smoking to get the job."
A true Zen saying...Frank Z would be proud.

Not nearly enough information to find fault. The real story is always more than someone's narrative.
What is your problem?? I don't know anything about Zen, or Frank Z. I am a registered republican who loves my country, gave 14 yrs to USNR and Army National Guard before graduating college and teaching criminal justice.
My writing style has nothing to do with what you are talking about, and I take exception to being accused of something I have never studied or approved.
I'm sure there is more to the story, but people in their late 60's are not much of a threat unless they have a weapon. Sometimes the people skills are traded in for something more exciting, like misusing the tools of the trade. I sure would NOT want this policeman to be handling a domestic violence call.
He should have used mace instead.
(just kidding!)
I think that would be megalomania.
In my Freeping experience, sarcasm can NEVER be obvious enough for some people......
Technology for 'massive' tasering ready to roll http://www.newscientist.com/news/news.jsp?id=ns99996014
Man threatened with jail for 'daring' to take his son off psych drugs http://abcnews.go.com/sections/Living/US/mental_illness_treatment_kids_040607.html
College kid charged with felonies for conducting a peaceful protest . http://boston.indymedia.org/newswire/display/21845/index.php (I realize this was reported in a 'liberal' indymedia outlet. but look at the pictures of him and what they tried to charge him with. they were just outraged that this citizen would 'dare' to protest outside a recruiters office. they try to call those shoelaces 'bomb making materials'? GMAFB!
people don't understand that regardless of your stance on the war or your political views.. try to be rational and impartial, just for once. Anyone who thinks this kid should be charged with several felonies is just screwed up. These strongarm intimidation tactics are not consistent with liberty.
I would love to read the link mentioned above about a taser of another old woman who had a red wagon? (???) and i also heard today that a woman in yellowstone was tracked down for littering in Yellowstone national park 2 years ago. (but of course the same govt cannot track illegal aliens who's visas have expired.)
Deal with officers like you deal with a Doberman.....Even if they are calm, assume that they are one move away from losing it......
I try to always include the sarc tag, because with all the different people and personalities, you may think your sarcasm would be obvious to someone, but you just never know.
I thought coloradan was serious!
