Cardinal Rodríguez belongs to one of the world's largest religious orders, the Salesians of Don Bosco, which focuses on serving poor children around the globe.

These guys have no shame. Here they are suppose to be serving poor children, other than the unborn the most at risk, and they harbor filthy scum. It isn't easy to read these articles but ya know I am glad in a way that the Catholic Church is being held to this standard. Let the press do its worst, the Church needs to be held to a higher standard than Protestants or those in other institutions. Let's face it, for a long time the Catholic Church, at least in this country, has lived off of its good reputation from before Vatican II.

I'm sure Pope Vigilius would have preferred this scandal to the troubles he had to deal with, largely created by himself.

Thanks for the mention of Pope Vigilius. Had not heard about him and my curiosity peaked, did a little "Googling". By George, he sounds like he could have been one of John Kerry's ancestors!

Let's see: according to historians Vigilius appears to have designed his entire career around the goal of becoming someone powerful. John Kerry: check.

Managed to reach his goals via the influence of a wealthy and influential woman. John Kerry: check.

Fell out of favor by angering the powers-that-be via his constant "nuancing" of critical issues of the day. John Kerry: check.
