I don't think lie detectors work on pathological liars -- they can't tell whether you're lying, just whether it makes you tense and nervous. If you've convinced yourself your own view is true, . . .

There are people who can pass lie detector tests -- and I think old Slick would be one of them. He really believes what he is saying. Most "sane" people wouldn't have the nerve to go on TV and babble with those lies.
