BAGHDAD, Iraq (CNN) -- An attempt to assassinate Iraq's minister of health has failed, but seven Iraqi police officers and 10 Iraqi civilians were wounded in a 45-minute battle that followed the attack in western Baghdad, according to Iraqi Police Col. Azher Kamal.

The fight began when a roadside bomb exploded as a convoy carrying Iraqi Minister of Health Dr. Ala'adin Alwan passed by at 8:30 p.m. local time (12.30 p.m. ET) Saturday, Col. Azher said.

Is it me, or were the people in Fallujah (police, Fallujah Brigade, gravediggers...) saying yesterday and earlier today that many, if not most, of the dead were women and children? Now, hospital officials count only 2 children and 1 women among the 18 dead? And it's quite possible, in my mind, that they could have been killed by seconday explosions or in a house next door.

To me, all the evidence seems to point to us having hit our target.

Recent attacks in Iraq on Iraqui leaders have proven that it isnt the United States that is hated , it is any government not made up of terrorists and killers.

That's not a new trick. Remember the "Baby Milk" factory bombing during the first Gulf War? After we hit it, they claimed it was a baby milk factory. When we scoffed, they printed up a bunch of tee-shirts saying (in English no less) "Baby Milk" as proof that these were "baby milk" factory workers.

This is the same strategy the FLN used in Algeria in the 1950s. Sadly, it worked then because the French caved. But then, it was the French . . . .

"To me, all the evidence seems to point to us having hit our target."

The bombs landed in Fallujah didn't they? Seems to me that is enough to conclude that we hit our target.
