WASHINGTON -- Senator John F. Kerry, who began his public life as a Vietnam War protester, said yesterday that the United States should use ground troops to topple Iraqi President Saddam Hussein if he does not comply with international demands to give up chemical and biological weapons.
Kerry, a potential presidential candidate in 2000, said sending US troops into Iraq should be "the last option, but it is a legitimate option."
The state's junior senator said President Clinton had not been tough enough in his measures to subdue the Iraqi president.
Because Iraq will try to rebuild its chemical and biological weaponry after a US air attack, "we will not eliminate the problem for ourselves or for the rest of the world with a bombing attack," Kerry said.
Kerry said his conditional support for using ground troops put him "way ahead of the commander in chief, and I'm probably way ahead of my colleagues, and certainly of much of the country. But I believe this."
I am pro-war when the time calls for it.
"Great find!
Someone should put this in an ad.
Kerry 1971
Kerry 1998
Kerry 2002 (when he said Saddam had WMD)
Kerry 2004"
Some people have complained that W is being too nice. It is these kind of juggernauts that are being saved for maximum effect. Some say it may be too late to win some votes. But just like in Florida, to win some votes you have to cancel others . Not after the fact like when the Dems tried to steal Florida but before the fact by demoralizing voters for Kerry. There is so much ammo saved and some will trickle out just after the DNC convention and then shortly after Sept. 11 and then....Ka Boooooom!!!
I read it the same way, Peach. Evidently he doesn't know there's a record of what he says.
OR HE BELIEVES that the Main Stream Media can drown out anything else that comes up and if quizzed he can deny it. He NEVER gives a straight forward statement on anything it seems to me. His statements are long, with lots of conditions and qualifiers.
You might find this of interest.
"What the hell happened to the guy?"
Thanks!
I think he says whatever is immediately advantageous and is without core beliefs. Until his recent "ascension", I didn't pay much attention to him, but my bet is that it isn't a new characteristic.

Exactly! His survival is dependent upon the MSM.
It's a VRWC I tell ya!!!!

You are correct. This is a long time pattern, and we haven't been that aware of it.
Now he is under a microscope, and his friendly mediots can't hide what he says one day/year and reverses himself the next day/year.

That is why I have difficulty believing he will be the dem candidate in November.

I think that any rat will have problems with what they said and did from now on.
That goes for Sinator Hildebea$t and the remainder of the drawfs from this year.
Look at what we did to Clark and Dean in such a short time.
I'm sure that this one reason al Querry is taking forever to name his veep candidate. As soon as whomever is named, Free Republic and other conservatives will have a book on it that will not be good reading for the rats.
Freepers have a ton of stuff on the Breck Girl posing as a male rat senator.
That's good! So maybe we should tell sKerry to 'bring 'im on'.
al Kerry will probaby wait until the rat convention to announce his Kerrorist VP candidate to avoid the hellfire and brimstone explosion that will happen.

I think he will, too.
