Even today, Americans swap religions quickly: around 16 percent of the population has changed denominations and the proportion rises the more fundamental the creeds get, with one study showing that half the pastors in megachurches having moved from another denomination.

They write this as if it's a good thing.

I'm not sure it's such a bad thing. I frequent the Religion forum here, and I'm always astonished at the minute points of theology that Christians are willing to argue about. In my view, the most important denominational differences are stylistic, and as such, I think it's appropriate for individuals to find the church that they belong in.
