Bill, as well as we FReepers, knows his "legacy"...and it ain't even a "deep down" kinda thing.

It's gotta irk his guts that someday - probably a decade or more away - his stain will be obvious to all. The sham will eventually die.

His legacy is a sad, 16-acre hole in the ground five blocks west of my apartment.

I think the entire week of President Reagan's funeral, and all the tributes to Reagan got to him, too. He saw how revered Reagan was for his accomplishments. Bill knows deep down that when he dies someday, he will not be revered. There will be no great accomplishments to remember, there will be no calls to place his image on Mount Rushmore or US currency, or even debates as to whether he was the greatest president of the last century. He wants what Reagan earned and received, yet his legacy will be a sex scandal. If Monica is still alive the press will be all over her that week for comment. The National Enquirer will have yet another field day. Bill Clinton will be remembered as a national joke and a liar; forever intertwined with Monica Lewinsky and a cigar.
