There is a widespread, international hatred of President Bush on the left. I am at a loss to explain it myself - it is visceral, it is bitter and it is irrational. I have no idea if it has to do with the closeness of the 2000 election: I suspect that has little to do with it. Perhaps it's because of President Bush's policies, but I doubt that is the case either - he has signed many spending bills he shouldn't have, which the left should cheer.

I suspect it has more to do with his manner and image, appearance being more important than reality to many on the left. President Bush is from Texas. If there is one state that the left disdains, it is Texas. And why? Cowboy hats, guns, pickup trucks, barbeque - this kind of lifestyle would give the average tofu and brown rice eating leftist a heart attack. In short, they hate President Bush out of snobbery for a place they do not understand, nor do they want to.

That sounds shallow in retrospect, but then again so are the leftists.

Absolutly, they hate him simply because he is in power and they are not. They feel their hate for him is justified because to them our dislike of
Bill Clinton was unfounded, unreasonable, unthinkable, pure
hate, it's that simple.

They hate George Bush more than Al Quida because they mistakenly believe they can "understand and reason" with
Islamic terrorists, that they can "grasp the root causes of their discontent" etc, etc.

And finally they hate George Bush more than AQ because they
can't help but think that it should have been a democrat President using the war to further democrat aims.
