McCain silences the talk about a VP spot while McCain throws his weight behind his bread and butter, because he benefits, and President Bush gets a temporary bounce in the polls while Kerry eats crow. All of this plans designed ahead of time.
That's what I meant.
Bottom line: Bush DOES get a boost from McCain.
But the other thing you mentioned, it is a compelling serendipity that Kerry and his campaign have been making all these fawning overtures to McCain and now McCain is so ardently supporting Bush. It makes McCain look really irrelevant.
