Me, too. I think it's because he really does mean what he says. It's an ugly world, and that requires us to do unpleasant things.
I think those who are uneasy about Bush (the squishy part of Kerry's support the polls) are really uneasy because they're uncomfortable with the prospect of really taking action on something. (I understand this emotional response.)
But people are beginning to see that taking action has positive results, and I think there's at least a short-term recognition that lack of action is what brought us to the current mess.
As I said on another thread: Slow and steady wins the race. W's doing the right thing, and he's letting it come together.
