LUFKIN -- An assistant principal at an East Texas high school has resigned after being accused of sending nude pictures of himself to a 16-year-old female student, authorities said Thursday.

Charles Dexter Lewis, 35, was arrested early Thursday on the Class A misdemeanor of displaying harmful material to a minor. Lewis was released Thursday on $1,500 bail, according to jail officials.

A statement released by Lufkin schools Superintendent David Sharp said Lewis resigned as 11th-grade assistant principal at Lufkin High School Tuesday after being confronted with the accusation.

Sharp said the photo was not sent from school.

The teenager was looking at a nude picture Lewis sent her when her father walked in, Lufkin Police Lt. Greg Denman said in a story in Friday's editions of The Lufkin Daily News.

The father retrieved the message after the girl tried to hide the image. He also found several other messages from Lewis. Lewis agreed to turn himself in after CPS contacted police.

I can't help but wonder how many of our educational establishments have been subverted by adult perverts of various predilections.

This is why I would never allow my child to get paddled by some teacher in school. They may enjoy it too much. Most teachers/administrators I am sure are do not have terrible charachter flaws but there is always that 1%.

I suspect he will eventually be charged with something more serious but it is impossible to tell yet.

Sick Bastard....

If he has done this, what else might he have done, or planned to do?

I am sure, if you are doing your job as a parent, and your child knows how to behave at school, the paddling issue should never come up......

HE will obviously be doubly excioriated since he sent the picture to a female. had it been to a male student I am sure it would be being played as just a form of self-expression.

How long will it be before we hear: It's just about sex. Time to move on.

sending nude pictures of himself to a 16-year-old female

If his prey had been a 16 year old male he'd have been honored as an example of tolerance for diverse life styles.

How dare fathers presume to interfere with state school sex education of our children!

If he was also located in Massachusetts, he'd be elected to Congress (Gary Studds).

Once again, a perp is listed in a news story with his 3 full names. But this guy also gets the "how stupid can you get?" to sending out a pic like that to a student and deserves every moment he gets in the slammer, where he'll probably meet with some special jailhouse justice from his cellmates.

Thankfully these adult perverts now have access to the pornography superhighway which should help keep them out of this kind of trouble. < /sarcasm>

Article: Charles Dexter Lewis, 35, was arrested

NJAPF: Once again, a perp is listed in a news story with his 3 full names

If you were Charles Andrew Lewis, would you really want the newspaper to skip printing that middle name? Sure, they'd save a little ink, but I don't think that would be much consolation.

That is a good point escpecially with a crime of infamy.

You certainly don't want to have to print a bunch of corrections saying we were not talking about that Charles Lewis.

That's true of some children, but not for others. Some kids are perfectly clear on where the limits are. They'd have to be...they test them every day.

Oh I don't disagree with you in that regard. My feeble attempt at humor wasn't very good :-).
