Putin also said back some time ago, that he warned Clinton many times about terrorism, and Putin was frustrated that Clinton totally ignored his warnings.

From Newsmax:

"Thursday, Nov. 8, 2001 12:42 a.m. EST

In comments guaranteed to raise eyebrows on both sides of the Atlantic, Russian President Vladimir Putin said late Wednesday he was disappointed that ex-President Bill Clinton seemed so uninterested in combating worldwide terrorism.

"I wouldn't want to go into any assessments of my colleagues," Putin first told ABC's "20/20" host Barbara Walters in an exclusive interview.

But then the former KGB agent revealed his dismay over Clinton's attitude toward the terrorist threat.

"The former president of the United States ... was in a very difficult situation. But even at that time, we certainly were counting on a more active cooperation in combating international terrorism"

(I am sure it was in regular news media at the time too.)

Putin due to national pride will always be somewhat turse (sp) to US President Bush, but he hates terrorists as much or more. I have a feeling since this was cabinet-level planning from Saddam thugs he had a real conflict but reported it to Bush regardless. Russia is invested in Iraq and now it comes back to haunt her. Russia slept with rats and had to reject the US war plan. I hate to see when she does things like this. But she continues to sleep with rats. At least Putin has the right slant on things, he didn't put all their economic investment in that country, his predecessors did. So it is easy for US to condemn Iraq while for a struggling Russia with scientists and advisors on the ground for a long time in Iraq....it wasn't so easy.

Does this make me proud of Russia?

No it does not.
