President Bush said on Wednesday: "Today in Iraq, more than 170 newspapers are being published, and I saw the other day that they've even got talk radio. I don't know if they've contacted Rush yet." KVI-AM listeners didn't get to hear Bush's Limbaugh joke. "We just don't generally expose or promote talk-show hosts on other stations," says program director Paul Duckworth, whose station once aired Rush Limbaugh's show.
They hate Rush as much as they hate the President. Go figure.
Hmm... paul duckworth... meet irony... irony... paul duckworth.
It figures, it figures.
Whatever else you can say about Rush, for almost a decade he was the voice of traditional values and a large factor in Bush's election as president of the United States.
Why else the moronic Supreme Court distraction by the "progressives" (read socialists if not outright communists)?
Duckworth points out KVI was the only station to air the entire or almost the entire Bush speech yesterday morning. He said he could understand the negative response if the station had censored something Bush said about Iraq. "I'd certainly agree with that. But for crying out loud, it was a brief mention of our competition," Duckworth said. What they did was silly... but no big deal.
Much ado...did they clip it right there? I would say if they omitted the sentence from the middle of an account, it's bad form. If, however, they finished the segment on that note, it's not that big a deal. If Clinton was in a similar situation to promote some Leftist drivel, I'd feel the same way.
I always enjoy it when they get cut off in mid sentence.
They should have either played it in its entirety,or not run it at all.
Radio stations run parts of Presidents speeches all the time as news items.
I don't see the issue
I don't disagree that stations play clips of speeches, however if you are saying that you are playing the entire speech, then clip out a part, that is wrong.
Now let's look at some things that happened because of the "new media": 1) We know they bleeped it. 2) Others that might not know about it do because it's being talked about. 3) The radio station has invaluable advertising. 4) It's likely more people have heard about what the president said that one have because of this.
It's a new world as far as communications and information. Very different than when three big outlets controlled everthing.
Brokaw edits part of Bush's comment about Iraq-Al Caeda link. Networks, Newspapers edit. It is one thing if you don't agree, but editing or altering should be opposed, atleast by freepers.
This is the most agreegous example of liberal media bias.
Broadcasting content that did not, in fact, happen.
golly, do you think so?
Said Duckwad: "Our own guy is lame so we don't want any mention of "He who must not be named, or even thought about, or even read about.""
I have a little insight into this. I listen to both stations. KVI used to carry Rush on their station but he left and went to the other station(770)last year. I think he left a lot of hurt feelings also. I remember KVI's host Kirby Wilbur trying to explain Rush's departure. He said something about Rush made the decision and nobody knew exactly why and how they tried to talk him out of it.
I think the competition is very bitter between the two radio stations because of this.
And not unexpected.
They all had stories about Franken and Air America when it first started. Did those stories get cut or bleeped?
Ever been in TV or radio station? Almost everything on TV and radio has been edited in some fashion. It's all been "manipulated". And the president has no more of a "right" to be heard on TV or radio as you do. And the gov't does not have the right to tell TV or radio what to broadcast. They may be able to tell them what not to broadcast "again" in some circumstances (see Howard Stern).
What do you want? The gov't saying "you must broadcast this"? OK, then where do you stop? If you say the gov't can say what's broadcast then would you then wish to require that people have to listen to it? That's the logical extension of your assertion here.
I was listening to Air America this AM. The two bimbos on there were saying things like "Bush is insane", "Cheney is crazy" and the like. They basically were calling them criminals. They said that we had hidden people from the Red Cross so we "could beat the hell out of them".
Air America is pure garbage. They "edited" everything Bush said. Not just the Limbaugh part. What would you do with them? I know what I'd do. Just change the channel.
Rush Says 9/11 Commission Member DID Find Iraq/AQ Connections
George W. Bush will be reelected by a margin of at least ten per cent
