Guess no one at the Democratic National Committee took a close look at the calendar: That July 26 salute to Teddy just happens to coincide with . . . the 35th anniversary of Chappaquiddick.Guess no one at the New York Post took a close look at the date Chappaquiddick actually happened, either! ;) Unless you define the anniversary as being a week, and not a day, their anniversary info is incorrect. Chappaquiddick actually happened on the evening of July 18/morning of July 19, 1969, and Ted pled guilty to failure to report the accident on July 25. None of these dates coincides with the July 26 Kennedy salute.

The article says:
It was on July 25, 1969, that the senator appeared before a Massachusetts district court judge and, in a proceeding that lasted all of seven minutes, pleaded guilty to one count of failing to report the accident that resulted in the death of 28-year-old Mary Jo Kopechne.
The Post looked at the date and concluded it was the same week.
