Fox: Mexico will not permit violations of the human rights of Mexicans who live in the United States
Office of the President of Mexico ^ | June 16, 2004 | Unknown

Posted on 06/17/2004 2:57:13 PM PDT by primeval patriot

The government of Mexico will not permit violations of the human and labor rights of Mexicans living in the United States, said Mexican President Vicente Fox Quesada, stressing that, "we will stand beside every Mexican woman and man in this country, we will defend them against the raids being carried out in the state of California."

He reaffirmed his commitment to continue to support the Mexicans and Mexican Americans who live and work with dignity and productivity, because they, he said, make a great contribution to the United States economy. "They are loyal, and respectful of this society and this country that has received them."

On his first working day in the United States, Mr. Fox made important announcements for the Mexican community living in various places in this country.

These include the scale of investments made in Mexican consulates in the United States and reinvestment in places of origin of income from fees for the issue of consular matriculation cards or other services provided.

In addition, he told Mexicans living in the United States that, "we have not reduced our expectations and our struggle to finally reach an immigration agreement beneficial to the communities of both countries and so that we -through it, in an orderly manner, in an effective manner- can drive the development of our two countries more and more."

Mr. Fox acknowledged that it has still not been possible to crystallize that goal, "but I assure you that we continue to struggle every day with the same purpose and that we are trying, every day, to resolve each of the demands that you have put forward."

Evidence of that, he said, is the fact that the consular matriculation card is now broadly accepted in many states and now is not only useful as an identity document, but to carry out other operations.

Speaking before the Mexican community gathered in the new facilities of the Mexican consulate in this city, the federal executive announced that the governments of Mexico and the United States are working to unify criteria in the standardization of their Social Security Systems.

This system, he explained, will enable a person from Mexico or from this country to make savings, a retirement and pension plan through a single account. "Working here or working there will count just the same, there will be equal access to the same rights, in health, in retirements, in pensions, in housing, and in savings".

He informed that the Mexican consulate in Chicago has already opened more than 50 community plazas, associated with the local government, which provide educational services ranging from primary and secondary education through to diplomas and university degrees.

He also highlighted the extension of the Three for One Program, "by way of which members or groups in the Mexican community who want to invest in their community, for every dollar they send there, another two dollars are added: one by the federal government and one by the state and municipal governments."

"That saving, that investment can be used for basic infrastructure in the community, in their community; or it can be used for production projects, your own enterprises, that will have that support of two additional dollars for each dollar."

At the meeting, the chief of the federal executive acknowledged that there have been budgetary shortages and that there is greater demand for this program than what is available with the budget, " but we have been growing it and by next year we are going to continue to increase this amount greatly, to be able to carry on working as a team."

He announced that in the city of Chicago the services of a community liaison center will be provided, " through which we want to have a greater closeness. In that center we want to permanently offer consular protection, financial education, preventive health services, and other rights and other programs."

In the morning, President Vicente Fox held a meeting with Don Michael Randel, the president of the University of Chicago, at which he highlighted this educational institution's interest in research into and the history of Mexico.

He acknowledged Dr. Friedrich Katz for his research into Mexico. In his remarks he said that, "he has also followed closely the delicate process of transition that my country is undergoing today; our struggles to eliminate traces of authoritarianism; to consolidate an efficient democracy; to overcome poverty and discrimination, and to provide all Mexicans with better opportunities in health care, education, employment, justice, and well-being."

President Fox's agenda also included meetings with the mayor of the city of Chicago, Richard M. Daley, with editorial advisors of various Chicago media, and with the president of Whirlpool, Jeff Fetting.

President Fox and his wife, Marta Sahagún de Fox, were honored with a dinner given by members of the United States-Mexico Chamber of Commerce.

Mexico has'nt had a two party government in 70 years. The PRI is still in power because its agents assenated all the viable candidates for congress and their supporters,While the PRI was in power it "confiscated"the oil reserves and refinerys,so much for the"Good Neighbor Policy",I wonder if anyone had the balls to go to the US Court of Appeals and sue Mexico.

I can't remember the Spanish word for "e-mail". Would you have time to look at this website and see if there is an e-mail link for Pres. Fox?

Truly incredible arrogance and insult. The most amazing thing is so many Americans will eat it up.

If I am not mistaken, President Bush said Mexico was our good friend. As they harbor thousands of illegals that that have committed murder, rape and robbery here and fled back to the safety of Mexico, where we can't touch them. Were our good friends part of the coalition in Iraq? No. As their country defecates on our laws and sovereignty.

Our good friend?

Spit!

Sadly, GWB is silent.

In light of these threats, and epic arrogance against our country the silence from the President AND every single politico in DC is down right DISTURBING.

WTF is really going on?

And when have they ever shown any respect for this society and this country?

Why when they pee in the alley while holding a Budweiser.

I'm new to Free Republic.

Heard on tonight's local AM news that for every one person detained crossing the border, three get through.

Statement: "The government of Mexico will not permit violations of the human and labor rights of Mexicans living in the United States, said Mexican President Vicente Fox Quesada, stressing that, "we will stand beside every Mexican woman and man in this country, we will defend them against the raids being carried out in the state of California...."

Response: Very good. The first veiled threat-at least a threat made public.

Comment: Oh, my children we are soon to be the Czechoslovakia of the 21st century. Diversity is so wonderful! Mexicans have their rights. This statement is an example of how those rights shall be used.

Again, where the hell is President Bush? Why is he allowing this to happen?

Bottom line.

What is happening to our country when leaders of corrupt countries can make these blatant *threats*, pointing the finger at us like we have done something wrong!

Where is our leadership? Why are they silent in the face of this gargantuan lawlessness perpetrated by this country and it's leaders? As this son of a bitch harbors people that have killed our cops and citizens in cold blood.

Which one of our leaders has the balls to stand up and tell this son of a bitch, enough!

Is it really the plan to remove our borders, to undermine and destroy our sovereignty? Is it really the plan to put us under UN control? Does Fox know something we don't?

Why do our leaders stand in silence in the face of these continued, brutal attack on our borders, our sovereignty, and now more threats on our country?

My father told me in 1975 that the only way Mexico would be saved is through out Annexation of it. Looks like he got smarter as I got older.
