He certainly wanted to be governor for the women. One night while he was AG and considering running for the governorship, he told a group of buddies that was planning to run and commented, "Just think how many women I can get if I am governor."
What makes me sick about my own fair sex is that apparently these trappings that come with high office do work. SAD, isn't it? I guess we women as we instinctively look for the best and the brightest can be fooled by the pyrite glint of fame. And I suppose those who then marry their "good catch" can be forgiven. But the ones who gloat about having briefly "worn kneecaps" for the famous are hanging their egos on fairly small hooks. (Whoops, a pun.)
