Replica? What about relocating the original from one place to another?

For the final step, the combination was sent and a pulse of laser light was applied to atom C, almost magically turning it into a replica of the original A. Atom A was teleported to atom C.

How do they know that it wasn't C teleported to A in an almost magical reversal of time?

If you can replicate the quantum numbers of a particle, it is indistinguishable from the original.

As far as the universe can tell, it is the same thing!

in the teleportation of star trek, mr spock always reasoned that he never existed after teleportation, but was a mere replica of himself...
