God Bless America
In Phoenix on Friday for lunch? Please advise where. Must meet Jim. My husband and I would so love to be able to meet him!
We just had the funniest encounter today. We informed our senator (Cheuvront - Dem) that we were moving into the loft low-rise above his wine bar (while patronising his place). He actually solicited our participation in his political group activities and even ASKED us if we were democrats. We laughed later about the fact that he was so shocked that true JD Hayworth/Bush fans were invading the downtown landscape. His jaw dropped when we told him that our rooftop deck in downtown Phoenix could possibly be the location of some Republican fundraisers.
It never ceases to amaze me how dumbfounded the dems are to find that we really exist among them. My husband's brother is a reporter for the LA Times and his wife a producer for the CBS evening news. They and their hollywood neighbors just can't fathom that "nice" people like us are conservative. The bottom line is that they NEVER see, hear, or speak anything but LIBERAL views!
Cheuvront (our democratic senator that we met tonight in the wine bar below our soon to be new home) actually told us (after learning the shocking news of our political affiliation) that he has a really good friend who is a republican. That reminded me of the 50's or 60's where people would brag of their black, navajo, jewish, (fill in the blank) friend.
Anyway, WAY off topic, just wanted to share some Phoenix lore.
Really want to see Jim on Fri. if possible. If someone knows where, when, etc., please advise. Thanks
