I can see where the officers were concerned about the danger posed by the bear, but they *did* have it confined in a single room. Seems to me that discharging a firearm inside a hospital should be something they'd consider only as a last resort.I dunno. Would a bear be stopped for long by a mere door?

Would a bear be stopped for long by a mere door? Depends on the door, I suppose. Many hospitals use steel doorframes and solid-core wooden doors (or even steel doors) - very "institutional" construction. No matter... the bear's dead. Call the butcher and the taxidermist, stat!
