New York Post ^ | June 16, 2004 | NILES LATHEM

WASHINGTON — The United Nations was rocked by a new scandal yesterday when reports surfaced that the diplomat in charge of rooting out corruption in the world body is himself facing allegiations about unethical conduct.

Fox News reported yesterday that Dileep Nair, the undersecretary general in charge of the U.N. Office of Internal Oversight, has been accused of demanding kickbacks and sexual favors in return for promotions inside his office. Nair, a native of Singapore, also has been accused of attempting to thwart the probe into the Iraq oil-for-food scandal, although his role in that probe remains unclear

Sources told The Post the allegations against Nair stem from complaints from employees inside the United Nations that have reached the employees union as well embattled U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan.

Just heard on Fox News, Dileep Nair suspended one of his workers who was a whisleblower. Seems the UN has the black box from the plane crash that killed Rwanda's President several years ago. They apparently have not even opened the box to check what information was in it.

So the conflicts over the decision to go to War in Iraq were really about oil money like everyone always said.

The UN officials, diplomats, French officials and others leftists wanted the oil money and Bush wanted to unseat Saddam and his reign of terror.

They are not saying but the report from FoxNews says it was the black box from the crash that killed the President of Rwanda. As I recall, the crash was suspicious.

This from the AP in March of this year.

UNITED NATIONS (AP) - In what Secretary-General Kofi Annan called a "first-class foul-up," the United Nations said Thursday it has discovered a black box sent from Rwanda after a 1994 plane crash that unleashed a genocide in the east African nation. The device was found Wednesday in a locked filing cabinet in the U.N. Peacekeeping Department's Air Safety Unit. Aviation experts put it there apparently in the belief its "pristine condition" ruled out the possibility that it came from the downed Falcon 50 jet, U.N. spokesman Fred Eckhard said.

Anyone interested in the Oil for Food coverup ought to visit the Friends of Saddam web site. They're keeping a record of every story they find about it.

The majority of countries in the UN are third world countries, where graft is a way of life. In countries like that, obtaining a government position is the quickest path to riches. That is a given. Why on earth would we think that the UN would be any different?

More important, why would we want to cede even one tiny bit of our sovereignty to such an organization?

I spent three years working at the UN for a pro-family NGO. One thing was immediately apparent:

If the UN ever gets the power its advocates -- World Federalists, et al. -- want for it, it will not be some global Age of Aquarius. It will be a global banana republic, with a socialist philosophy that will give them an additional excuse to loot the West.

Has anyone compiled a list of links about UN scandals?
If so, can you point me to it?
