Media mail is dirt cheap compared to anything else. I entered a 10 pound package from Ohio to California.

UPS Ground = $11.45.
USPS Parcel Post= $18.14
USPS Media Mail = $4.84

I can understand why they want to upsell to Parcel Post. $13+ for essentially the same service.

Can anybody confirm that private shipping like UPS can not ship at a lower price then the USPS.

We need to privatize our postal services?
With privatization, we probably could shipp all 10 pound packages for $4.84

Actually the Priority Mail flat rate envelope is the best deal. Just $3.85. But it must fit in the flat rate envelope. What I do is see if the book will fit in the flat rate Priority Mail envelope when I list it. If it does, then I offer Priority Mail shipping. If not, then it goes Media Mail. Shipped 2 books out today via Priority Mail but tomorrow I will be shipping at least 2 books out via Media Mail.
