Ping. You will not believe this, or the posts here...you'll see the ones I mean.

If some people on this site can justify the Inquisition, will the Holocaust be far behind?

Just the outright advocacy for a total Catholic theocracy in some of the posts is enough to make one's stomach turn.

And some keep wondering why the Right has such a tough time convincing people...

My, how nuanced you are. Perhaps you should read the article I posted and try to justify your slanderous and false analogy.

Ping.

Are you bringing all your imps with you?

See Heinlein's short story: If this goes on ...

Theocracies of any stripe are to be fought ...

Fifthmark is obviously part of FR's lunatic fringe. I see he's a defender of Saddam Hussein's regime, as well as of the Inquisition. He could probably be baited into defending the Holocaust pretty easily too (after all, those Jews were explicitly rejecting Christ as Savior, so for the good of society, y'know, they had to be taken out), but I'll restrain myself.

His type isn't really much of a danger, though, since they're few in number and so obviously wacko. The bigger danger is the more mainstream push to enshrine various religious doctrines in law. That movement is already big enough that it's pushing many millions of Americans over to the socialist side, because that's the only electable alternative in our polarized political system, which increasingly operates on the basis of emotional-alarmist soundbites aimed at the growing masses of citizens who lack critical thinking skills (thanks to the public school system, which has already been taken over by socialism).

If socialism completely overtakes our nation, and stamps out freedom, as it appears to be doing incrementally, we'll have the "reasonable" religious crowd to thank for it -- not the nutcases like Fifthmark.

And BTW, I'm by no means branding all religious people as threats to freedom -- just the ones whose brands of religion (including militant atheism) involve trying to coerce other people into practicing the coercers' religious principles. I'm actually quite religious myself, but in an intellectual, non-doctrinaire way.

Funny; I was just wondering if people can smear by innuendo, can the Holocaust be far behind?

The truth is, the Holocaust is right here. America -- which came of age practcing chattel slavery on Africans as well as ethnic cleansing and genocide on American Indians, has more than a few original sins to answer for. These are as nothing of course, compared to 40 million secret murders of the unborn and the present call for industrialised feedlots, cold storage, and slaughterhouses for human embryos, the better to convert human life to a profitable commodity. America is a mass grave.
