My response to those that bash Reagan is a simple one that shocks them to silence....
"At least he kept his pants on in the Oval Office"
No one has said a word back since : )
BTW I have ended a friendship since Reagan's passing. I put up with a friends liberal BS for over a decade and I finally had it when she called me last Sunday night to tell me she was glad Reagan was dead. That was the final straw.

I don't blame you!

We have a new neighbor that thinks Carter and Clinton were the best Presidents she's voted for. After I heard that, she and her husband will never be welcomed in our house; at least not by me. Of course, my wife has veto power, but she knows how I feel about traitors.

Sounds like your (ex)friend was trying to provoke you. In any case, people who celebrate the death of another human being do not make good friendship candidates.

I have too.
I don't know if anyone has started a thread (posted a vanity?) about this phenomenon. I'd be interested in how many Freepers have cut ties with someone (short OR long term relationship) because of politics/ideology.
I broke off a two-year relationship with a girlfriend when, in the first week of September, 2001, she berated me for my criticism of Islam (I called them "raghead terrorists" - little did I know what would happen next). She held the view that Islam represented the "evolution of religion" and that most of the worlds ills could be traced to Christianity.
More recently, I have walked away from a friendship (6+ years). My buddy was intrigued by my politics, and (I believe) held hope that he could "lure me away" from the "evil" of conservatism. He became frustrated when, quite to the contrary, I have become more vocal about the differences between right vs left (AKA right vs wrong!). The final straw came when he presented me with a Michael Moore video for Xmas. He got indignant when I "forgot" the video as I left his house (I know - I should have just taken it with me and tossed it away later), and belligerent when I told him the truth (MM is a scum-bag, and anyone who would buy into his crap is a moron!). We haven't spoken since.
