Your new neighbors sound like an entire wing of my husbands family. Lucky for us one is getting married to a conservative this year and he has told me how brainwashed his bride be is ( our cousin). He is taking it slowing on the re-education but is confident she is coming along LOL
Until about 5 years ago I used to praise Carters humanitarian side until I realized after much prodding by my husband that its all a show and Carter is just as evil as they come....One of the founding fathers of modern day terror. He could build a house for everyone in the world and I will forever consider him evil.

Well, they must have gotten over their rage because Abu Ghraib is back on the front pages above the fold again.

"....when she called me last Sunday night to tell me she was glad Reagan was dead."
Sounds like your (ex)friend was trying to provoke you. In any case, people who celebrate the death of another human being do not make good friendship candidates.

"BTW I have ended a friendship since Reagan's passing."
I have too.
I don't know if anyone has started a thread (posted a vanity?) about this phenomenon. I'd be interested in how many Freepers have cut ties with someone (short OR long term relationship) because of politics/ideology.
I broke off a two-year relationship with a girlfriend when, in the first week of September, 2001, she berated me for my criticism of Islam (I called them "raghead terrorists" - little did I know what would happen next). She held the view that Islam represented the "evolution of religion" and that most of the worlds ills could be traced to Christianity.
More recently, I have walked away from a friendship (6+ years). My buddy was intrigued by my politics, and (I believe) held hope that he could "lure me away" from the "evil" of conservatism. He became frustrated when, quite to the contrary, I have become more vocal about the differences between right vs left (AKA right vs wrong!). The final straw came when he presented me with a Michael Moore video for Xmas. He got indignant when I "forgot" the video as I left his house (I know - I should have just taken it with me and tossed it away later), and belligerent when I told him the truth (MM is a scum-bag, and anyone who would buy into his crap is a moron!). We haven't spoken since.

I think I will work on that thread and see what sort of responses we get.

I was disgusted with the media's overplay of the Reagan funeral. It wasn't that he was being honored. As he should have. He was a great man and I fully support his being honored. But, frankly, the press overplayed it completely, and I couldn't stand to see those networks that for years were so shrill in their defamation of Reagan, suddenly when he was gone, sucking up to the American People with the "We can remember Reagan better than Fox" coverage. Only Fox deserved a shot at the coverage because they're the only ones that weren't painting every one of Reagan's policies and ideas with a slanderous brush.

Yes. She still holds to her beliefs.
(as in, "Don't confuse me with the truth, I know what's right!").
