SCOTT'S FISHY FURY
By HOWARD BREUER
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
June 15, 2004 -- REDWOOD CITY, Calif. Scott Peterson hotly cursed and threw a flashlight after police grilled him about his suspicious fishing trip the day his pregnant wife, Laci, disappeared, one officer testified yesterday.
"I asked him what he was fishing for," Modesto Detective Matthew Spurlock told rapt jurors during the start of the third week of Peterson's murder trial.
"He had this blank look for a second or so, his eyes shifted a bit. And he didn't really answer the question.
"I asked what he was using for bait, and I got the same kind of response . . . this blank shifting," Spurlock said. "He couldn't really answer. Then he said, 'a silver lure,' and he held his hands about 7 to 8 inches apart."
Spurlock said that when he then asked Peterson to leave the house, he watched as the fertilizer salesman cursed through gritted teeth and threw a flashlight to the ground.
"It sounded like 'f - - -,' like it was being said out of frustration," the cop said............

REDWOOD CITY -- The judge in Scott Peterson's double-murder trial refused to declare a mistrial Monday over surprise testimony about Peterson's use of an obscenity shortly after his pregnant wife disappeared.
Superior Court Judge Alfred Delucchi gently chastised prosecutor Rick Distaso for pulling a fast one, but concluded that it was not a gross violation of trial procedure.
Also Monday, Sharon Rocha cried as she looked away from a large screen showing remains of her daughter, Laci Peterson. Minutes later, pictures of her smiling daughter splashed on the screen and Rocha quietly got up and exited the courtroom.
And two Modesto police officers said Scott Peterson seemed caught off-guard when first asked about his solo fishing trip.
Sparks flew after lead defense attorney Mark Geragos asked Delucchi for a mistrial, in a motion that drew snickers from the audience.........

Sis, remember that Sharon Rocha said that the book written about this case didn't even "resemble" the truth!!
Spunky I read that article before. The WS poster with the MPD employee friend said that Chief Wasden DIDN'T WANT that information to get out SO it was decided to make a cover-up public statement that wasn't specific and in fact misleading. Chief Wasden was very upset that they reported finding ANYTHING so they put out a damage control statement that was misleading. At least that's the information I saw and if you think about it, it sorta makes sense.
I think I'm talking to myself. LOL Back tomorrow. CO
Frankly I think the general consensus is the same here as anywhere else. I think he really wanted it moved because a death penalty case is very costly, add to that your pros. teams travel time etc. Well, you know how it is. Really snarked me off.
HA! Hey SCOWS, do a spell check for snarked and see the legitimate corrections.
My diagnosis: Narcissistic personality.
What site are you obsessing over?
You have FREEPMAIl!!!
Just read on WS that NG said they are going to show the "nude" photos of SP to show his "other" hair didn't match his head hair! TOO FUNNY~
His adoring fans will line up for seats in court that day...;)..
The hairdresser who dyed his hair and goatee will testify , so I'm wondering if this post about showing a nude picture to illustrate the rug and curtains not matching may be another rumor.
Yes--her name was Kristin Smart. But there is a stronger suspect in that case, an ex-boyfriend of hers, or at least a guy who wanted very much to be her boyfriend. And from what I read of him, he sounds very wacko. But they have never been able to get the goods on him. Paul somebody.
Much was made of the fact that Scott supposedly ignored a request from police asking him to come in for an interview about Ms. Smart's disappearance. But from what I understand, actually the request was a blanket request to a very large group of male students, and Scott didn't know her, so he didn't go.
So, despicable as Scott is, I pretty much doubt he had a hand in that particular disappearance!
Uh-oh! I should have said Cindy Adams! Liz Smith isn't the right columnist!
That story re-asserts the defense's silly claim that "someone else murdered her and then dumped her where it would frame Scott." (not an exact quote)
That as stupid as it gets. What better place to leave her body--if you wanted to frame Scott--than in SCOTT'S AND LACI'S OWN HOUSE OR YARD???
WHAT??!?
No, but her husband apparently does...
It does bother me to hear that some juror is just yukking it up at Geragos' lame, compulsive joking.
But I can remember one time, at least, when I saw a criminal defense attorney (who had a better sense of humor than Geragos) who yukked it up like that--and it was a much less serious crime than murder--and the jury laughed along with him... then later came back with a GUILTY.
Prosecutors are taught to NEVER allow an opponent to draw them into such joking in front of the jury. Eventually, if the prosecutor remains serious, and the defense attorney keeps making a joke of the trial, sometimes the jury might come to think of the prosecutor as their "conscience", as in, "but he's reminding us that even though we like to laugh, this is really a serious matter."
A good defense attorney will tell his client NOT to be shaking his head no when a witness is testifying against him. Yet I heard that Scott WAS visibly shaking his head no when the witnesses were testifying against him. Don't do that, Scotty-poo: they say "guilty people do that."
Well if they have nudie pics of SP to show his pubes then that answers on thing, he doesn't shave them.
We're sorry. We should've asked your opinion first, since you've followed the case so much more closely than we have.
Blecccccccchhhhhhhh!!
The victim's fund had two people who could sign checks...Sharon and Scott....He applied to get his "expenses" paid. (Perhaps to reimberse trips to the bay in rental cars and the Super Bowl to pass out fliers, multiple cell phones and camping equipment to search the desert?) He was turned down.
Geeeez... this sucker doesn't miss a trick, does he?
