I live in Georgia and I voted against Cleland.

I get tired of this shame-based BS that because a Democrat was wounded in combat, I have to agree with him on security issues. That's not what Cleland - or any other patriot - fought for.

Rather than try and shame me into voting for lousy ideas, how about trying to come up with better ones?

Max Cleland wasn't wounded in combat. He picked up his own live grenade while off duty.

I live in Georgia too, and I voted against Cleland because he forgot who sent him to Washington. He supported every Bill Clinton fart and burp. He voted against impeachment, and he towed the party line for the Clintons even when he knew his votes were in opposition to Georgia's interests.

Cleland was a lazyass senator, Georgia's very own stinky "mackeral in the moonlight".

Saxby Chambliss never said Cleland was unpatriotic, and neither did the RNC, but that pathetic whine became Cleland's mantle of mourning. One of the senate's weakest minds, Cleland is positively radiant onstage with Kerrey...as if he's been given a new lease on life....getting back at Bush for campaigning against him.

Having no legs isn't what makes Cleland a very small, small man.

Cleland picked up a grenade that fell out of a helicopter. He wasn't in combat and he got no medals.

He chose to stay behind to have a beer and if he had gotten on the helicopter, he would have his limbs. That's the version I've been told.
