Hey, it was the least he could do. After all, Clinton's handing him four more years in office, isn't he?
Anyone who says he offered a glowing tribute did NOT listen -- go back and read the remarks and take note of what was NOT said.
How about remembering him for perjury..lying...lack of guts in getting back at al Qaeda...If it hadn't been for that weak kneed Senate, led by that weak kneed Trent Lott, Clinton would have been in the slammer......and not being honored at the White House. However, in doing this..President Bush is showing that he is a class person, which is something you can't say about Clinton or his wife.
That Chelsea makeover is pretty stunning. She's still a horseface, but not nearly as chumly as she was.
Were the situation reversed, Bush's magnanimity would NOT be repaid in kind. Neither the Clintons nor the Dems. in general, have that level of maturity.
I couldn't have done what Bush did today...I respect the office, but I couldn't have said what he said about Hitlery.
But it did show the difference in moral and character make-up of Republicans as opposed to most democrats.
I can't wait til my painting comes out in velvet!
Signed copies will be good for picking up girls.
Signed: Bill Clinton
It made Clinton call himself a PICKLE!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA ...What a Buffoon!!
Okay! So GW Bush did stretch the truth just a little in this one instance. But Close contact with Clinton has that effect on everyone.
That isn't Paula Jones behind Bill is it? There is a strong resemblence.
Today it was all about the Clintons, and sonovagun if they don't all look wide awake for a change.
How funny that the AP highlights this. I noted on the "live thread" that it was inappropriately loud and boisterous and how his face turned all red--beyond the funniness of the comment. Now, we've all had laughing fits, but it indicates something, I think.
Too bad the AP didn't recount much of Clinton's bizarre remarks. Things like an anecdote of a young boy who told him he thought all presidents were dead, or about the cartoonist who had depicted Clinton as the victim of a chainsaw massacre. The comments were, um....interesting and insightful.
It was odd, and President Bush's gentlemanly and gracious words stood in stark relief.
Oh, Hillary spoke, but I can't recall what she said. Just know that for all time her portrait shows her wearing the black pantsuit. Even Ann Compton on ABC radio news said it's the first First Lady portrait where the subject is wearing a *pantsuit*.
I heard Michael Savage complaining about Bush praising Clinton and how he's not a real conservative for doing it. Much as I like Savage I have to say he was flat out wrong on this. Bush was really showing the thugs in the DNC how a statesman is supposed to act, and how prior to the rapist's administration how most elected officials carried themselves in public. Sometimes actually saying nice things about a P.O.S. like the stain-maker really drives home the point better than listing all the slime blatently.
How President Bush could do this without taking a long hot shower after is beyond me. I just hope he asks God for forgiveness for having to lie about these two worthless sewer rats who we had the misfortune to endure for 8 years of constant scandal and betrayal.
I do not know who was responsible for the timing of this outrage and stupid waste of taxpayer funds, portraits of an impeached president and his pernicious wife.
I am totally disgusted seeing the aristocratic political elite suck up to each other in this most despicable fashion.
Is this a joke?
A stroke of genius on the part of Bush. He buttered ole bill up, for potential votes and Clinton sucked it up while Kerry was miffed at not getting attention. For those Demoncrats on the fence, saluting their boy, bill may swing their vote over to Bush. Demoncrats typically vote party but for those that don't this could help Bush since many Demoncrats are not happy with Kerry.
