Actually, a lot of conservatives used the same "I support the troops but oppose the war" argument that liberals use about Iraq.

I think you use the term 'a lot' loosely. Certainly there were those on internet forums that stated such positions, but you would be hard pressed to find many GOPers in the House and Senate who made derogatory statements about the war once it started. The Democrats beat this anti-American drum daily and very loudly. There is a huge difference.

I was thinking mainly of some Freepers and talk show hosts, not politicians. I clearly recall Kirby Wilbur on Seattle's KVI being very critical of the war - the ONLY time I have ever heard him question an American military operation. I think Rush might also have opposed the Kosovo war, or questioned it, but I'm not sure. And there were more than a few Freepers who opposed it. But you're right about the politicians; despite some inititial skepticism (warranted because of Clinton's previous squeamishness about the use of military force), almost all Republicans supported the war.
