Media attention to move to Guantanamo after Abu-Ghraib; Biased Red Cross memo imminent
Various, Drudge Report ^ | June 12, 2004 | nwrep

After milking the Abu Ghraib story for weeks, and having gotten the maximum possible mileage out of it, some in the media are turning to Guantanamo as the next front in the ongoing anti-Iraq, anti-WOT coverage.

Some recent articles have started to highlight this prison, and the media is trying to create another scandal.

The BBC and other European outlets have already started an intense propaganda campaign to portray Guantanamo, as an example of the lawless and arrogant nature of President Bush's policies.

According to The Drudge Report, the Red Cross is poised to release a report on conditions in this prison, that will make the usual charges of non-compliance with various international laws. Expect the mainstream liberal media to go into overdrive as soon as this report hits the public domain.

The Nightly News anchors will give it prominence, painting it as yet another example of mismanagement by the Bush war machine.

This is part of the worldwide effort to defeat President Bush in November.

Reagan's funeral knocked Abu Ghraib off the TV and newspapers. The Dems are desperate to restoke the fires of scandal, any scandal.

actually, the Abu Ghraib story was done even before Reagan. Reagan knocked the Tenet resignation - and all the stories the media was trying to attach to it, off the radar.

Saw excerpts of Rita Cosby's visit there on FoxNews. She makes the case that these cretins are treated quite well, better than the soldiers gaurding them in most cases.

This is great. The American people get what's going on at Guantanamo. They know very well that even lawful combatants can be held for the duration of a conflict, and that the confinement of captured enemies has nothing whatever to do with the civilian justice system.

This will be a waste of the left's time and money. If it hasd any effect at all, it will be to cause a backlash against the pro-terrorist contingent in the media and the Democratic Party.

The Red Cross has become just another America hating activist organization, re it's alignment with the Red Crescent.

If all this wasn't so dangerous and insane, it would be comical.

The Red Cross is constantly putting on radio ads down here, saying they're "critically low" on blood. They're ALWAYS critically low on blood.

That's because most folks give to the COMMUNITY BLOOD BANK, which was formed due to severe anger with the Red Cross and all its works.

;-D

while I agree with the spirit of your post, I wish freepers would stop using the term "the American people". There is no such term in reality. Its a divided country - 40% of the people out there are beyond hope, if the media tells them that Gitmo should be like the Ritz Carlton, they'll believe it.

The goal is to not allow the media to convince another 10.1% of the people who at least have a chance at understanding what is going on, from joining that 40%, which will sink us all.

Thats about sums it up. I know members of the 10%. I work on them daily. But Im being constantly hampered by the likes of Rather, CNN, and that twit Moore..

Once again the media is out of touch. Most americans just don't care. They're terrorists, they want to kill us, their brethren murdered 3,000 innocent men women and children.

The media is once again on the America is always wrong bandwagon. Alone!

The media folks are the very reason AlQaida was formed.

Without disgraceful agencies like the NYT, BBC, CBS, ABC, NBC, NPR, and so forth, disgruntled Moslem terrorists wouldn't even have known each other existed.

We also must thank President Reagan for "the deregulation sweep of the Reagan Administration during the 1980s, the Commission dissolved the fairness doctrine". We must never forget what it would be like if Congress were able to regulate that information one again. Remember this every time you hear Daschle, McCain, Leahy, Schumer or Hitlery complain about talk radio or the vast right wing conspiracy. Viva, President Reagan!

In a couple of days, Al Qaeda will release a videotape of Paul Johnson, the American kidnapped in Saudi Arabia, being forced to make "confessions". They will probably also threaten a grisly death if their "demands" aren't met. Let's see how much the American public gives a rats a** about whether or not the prisoners at Guantanamo receive filet mignon for dinner. The media will shoot itself in the foot, yet again, if they continue to flog this dead horse.

I wouldn't donate to the Red Cross either.

Hell we won or freedom with only 20 % of the populace supporting us, the 20% that didn't support the revolution went north to canuck land.

We moved 20% of the population out of this country and we can move a lousy 1% back to mehico.

Oops didn't mean to go on a tangent there, this country has always been divided, the last major nastiness was 40 years ago when the demo-rats opposed civil rights for citizens in the south.

Of course they still do in the north.

Exactly. Americans want terrorists dead. A caller on Hannity last week is voting for Bush because "he's got the stones (can I repeat that here?)to kill terrorists."

Eloquent!

Only the media want to keep terrorists around so they have material to write anti-Bush "news" stories.
