Yes, the Captain spoke to her longer than just to formally present the flag.

He and Nancy really connected. She gazed at him like he was saying the most important thing she had ever heard. He looked at her with awe and respect.

If I had to guess, I'll bet he was telling her that they would always uphold his honor in every activity that ship ever engaged in. And probably some personal things as well.

It was a very touching exchange.

I was concerned for Mrs. Reagan when I saw how fragile she was, but as soon as Maj.Gen. Jackman appeared I relaxed and knew she was in excellent hands.

Just his presence calmed me down - he was so alert and compassionate all at once and seemed to know instinctively how to calm Mrs. R. down and assure her of the next step in protocol.

He made my day - a beautiful man - the best public relations the military could have.
