You really believe that? No evidence to that yet. Take a look at Saudi Arabia; that country is close to total civil war. And not all of the Saudi princes are on our side, many support the Wahhabi sect. Iran is threatening with nukes now.... how scared of the U.S., is a nuclear armed Islamo-facist nation? HONESTLY.
If we properly confront Islam and it's terrorism, Mud, we can still win, I think...maybe...in fifty years. Maybe. It's taken Israel fifty years to come to the realization that giving up their land will not appease the Palestinian muslims.
But we aren't quite there yet, (where Israel is today) on dealing with terrorism.
I can tell that you are very optimistic about defeating Islamic terrorism...well how do you propose we do that, (in our lifetime) when our leaders, ( and I include the Honorable President Bush ) will not even call it what it is: "Islamic" terrorism?
The entire free world dances around this issue, leaders are afraid to call it Islamic terrorism, for fear of being called bigoted. They call them militants, extremists, etc.
In Europe you can get arrested, fined, and threatened with jail time, for critisizing Muslims. Just ask Bridgett Bardot.
To deny the connection between Islam and Islamic terrorism is like denying the connection between the Soviet Union and Communism, 1945 Germany and the Nazis. Islam and Islamic terrorism are inexorably tied together at the hip, and until a majority of the people get to that understanding...we ain't even close to getting a handle on it, much less DEFEAT it.
- But that doesn't mean we have to nuke Mecca, or kill innocent Muslims to win either! Sheeeeeeeeesh!!!
But this IS part of the problem: It is so difficlt to get folks to look at this problem and honestly look at all the sides of this difficult issue; On one side lefties are charging bigotry, on the Right side, they are afraid of being called bigots, while other conservatives are blindly going on good faith that Islamics (as a majority) are going to welcome freedom and democracy like Western Society does!
I think the Iraqies cheering after a hundred folks (mostly fellow Iraqies) were killed in that car bombing a week ago, should pretty well dispel that starry eyed belief.
Check out this book, because we have got a lot of work ahead, and part of that work is to try and understand this religion on a level a little deeper than "Islam is a religion of peace, and it was just hijacked by some radicals." (I know that's not your quote, but how many times have we heard it, here, and everywhere else?)
And that my good FRiend is just seriously naive. :)
