My pleasure -- it was an awesome thing to have witnessed, in the true undiluted, uncheapened sense of "awesome."
There's one more anecdote I have to relate. A few minutes after we'd parked, a man came walking along with a big box of American flags -- the small ones you attach to car windows. At first I thought he was selling them. Instead, he was passing them out free to anyone who hadn't brought one. We had our own but later my wife started wondering why he was passing them out. When she found him he told her he always orders a bunch to pass out around the 4th of July. This year he felt today's occasion was more fitting.
Another thing: along Lewis Road there's a place that sells firewood. It's sort've an eyesore, with wood stacked around on about an acre of ground. But today it was brightened up by a big American flag flying high up on a steel derrick. It was a great sight and I think I know where I'll get my wood for next winter.
