Pardon me pinging everyone, but I just have to say something and shout from the rooftops.
I am still crying.
The minister spoke with such power (and golly was his speech good), the kids were amazing, the music was great, the sunset background was amazing, Nancy's goodbye just heart-wrenching...
I did not think something could be more powerful than this morning's service (which I didn't get to watch until the afternoon really since I was at work, though I did pop in on the thread and get to listen to audio in the car). I was wrong.
Just incredible. I am just glad for Nancy that this week is over so she can now begin the healing process.
GHW breaking up earlier in the day still gets me when I see it.
Thank you to the local Fox station for carrying this evening's service. And thank you for running coverage beyond the turn of the hour, unlike the other networks. You gave us a bit more glimpse of the people coming by to pay their respects than the other networks did. For that, I thank you Fox.
What a week. One I will never forget. How could you?
While I was too young during his presidency to remember the Gipper and his wonderful ideas, I now pledge my life....everything I have...to work for Reagan's America, to stand tall and proud to be an American. I won't have the attitude of "Hi, I'm an American; I'm sorry" like the sitcom character Al Bundy joked once. No, my attitude will be proud....to never shrink from declaring the fact that America is good, America is just. We are a special nation with a DUTY to do what we can...not just govt....but as a people, every single American, like President Reagan taught us...all of us doing what we can to make the world a better place, to shine the lamp of liberty, justice, goodness, just the wonder of life, and yes, God...to the rest of the world. To fight for freedom. To see this nation be the shining city upon the hill....not to hide our light under a bushel.
To just be a good person.
Godspeed Mr. President.....Whenever I am called forth by the Father to glory, when I will finally see you, a child of God and saint of Jesus Christ, what a glorious day. What a glorious day.
That day could not possibly come soon enough.
Well done.
If I remember right, Nancy once joked that she hoped you would haunt her after your passing. Well, I pray your spirit of love, peace, and joy will surround Nancy, comfort her. Haunt her with the Gipper's love......God....if you just please honor this....show her Ronald's love. Show her his love. Of course, show her your love and the love of Jesus Christ. Somehow, let her know that it is true what Ronnie believed, that Jesus Christ carried him on the wings of angels to glory....and that he is perfect and glorified, free of disease. And, as Lady Thatcher said so eloquently today, that her beloved Ronnie is indeed "more himself than at any time on this Earth." Amen.
Your entire post was wonderful. Thank you for taking the time to write that.
Well put and Amen.
Loved your shout from the rooftops. Beautifully written.
