Wow. I didn't think Kerry had the balls to even offer it to him.

To my way of thinking...... for Kerry even to consider using Cain, he must be thinking there are NO qualified candidates in the Dem party. It's really a slap in the faces of all those in that party that Kerry would even consider using a member of the GOP.

AGAIN! For the millionth time?!! WHAT PART OF NO, LURCH, DON'T YOU UNDERSTAND! What a dumba**!!
To: ChicagoHebrew
What is this? The 6th or 7th time McCain has said no to Kerry? At this rate, McCain will be able to get a restraining order against Kerry as a stalker!

McCain isn't stupid. There's only room for one strawberry connoisseur at a time in any administration.

McCain to Kerry..."NOT AGAIN!!! He already beat me once."
To: ChicagoHebrew
well, it's official. jauques kerry believes in NOTHING.
his soul and mind are empty. he would even sell out his
own party if he thought it would get him another lousy
50,000 votes.
this has GOT to rattle his base. sheer hatred of GWB will
only take the dems -- who are not really a party to begin
with, but a crammed together collection of special interest
groups that really don't get along in the first place -- so
far.
if kerry keeps running right, I wouldn't be surprised to see
nader get 5-7%, especially if the greens nominate him again.
when are we going to start seeing the hateful, anti-war,
pro-tax, anti-american crap that fell out of his mouth
during the primaries, when it looked like howie dean was
going to run away and hide with the nomination?

But but..according to the la times..kerry is easily beating President Bush..and according to the same paper..Americans say we had no business in Iraq...I mean..why would kerry have to get a republican..come on..I mean if you can't trust the la times..then who can you trust??? (sarcasm off)...ouch..that hurt..i don't want to be a liberal ever again..not even pretend..oh my head..

This is still in the news? Isn't it a pity when your "best idea" is unfeasable? Kerry is caught between having a nobody and no ticket enhancment or wanting a showboat and not having a snowball's chance in hell of getting him to jump on board (of course, if he did then people would wonder why Kerry headed the ticket...).

Ah why not, McCain would be doing the best thing he could for the party if he'd change affiliations.

John F*ckin's real problem is any Veep would look better than he is on the campaign trail. The Democrats have nominated someone who would make a passable Vice President but who really doesn't look as if he belongs in the Oval Office. Even the media's favorite Republican knows it.

Indeed. The media keeps serving up polls with "Bush is losing!" results.
If the media polls are in fact, accurate, then why would Kerry even bother offering the VP slot to McCain?
Possible reasons
- McCain is a closet Dem, and all the other Dems know it.
- Kerry does not see a single Dem in the pack that would make it as VP.
- Kerry and his insiders are fully aware that media polls are so left-skewed that they possess no useful analytical value. They also are painfully aware of the landslide Reagan election wins despite polls predicting otherwise. They might even have some truthful polls of their own that cast Kerry's odds in a bleaker light.
- Perhaps McCain secretly indicated interest earlier on, but now has decided against it.
- The massive outpouring of love displayed by millions over the good memory of President Ronald Reagan shamed McCain right out of any idea of being a turncoat.

I believe this is just a deliberate leak to make Kerry look more bi-partisan etc. I don't think he ever wanted McCain as VP. This is gamesmanship.
To: ChicagoHebrew
Both officials said Kerry stopped short of offering McCain the job, sparing himself an outright rejection that would make his eventual running mate look like a second choice.Hahahahaaa.... Too late, you sneaky mice.

Huh. My mother mentioned this over the weekend, and I had my doubts about it. Should have known. Another transparent maneuver gone awry, like tossing someone else's medals over the fence.
