I would love to see the pop-ups go away, I have a slow dial-up and can't use Pop-up stopper, it takes so long for some pages to load.

I'm one of those sometimes slow to change, but after a month I'm a firm believer in Firefox, because I can't remember one single pop-up since installing it.
Drudge, being a well known example, has three pop-ups nowadays on his site, but I never see them while using Firefox. This is better than any standalone pop-up blocker I've tried, including the Google toolbar and even the almost new Yahoo spyware blocking toolbar.
There's no need to throw IE away. I still use IE sometimes, such as with NOAA radar sites, which uses that dang Java. (I found Java for Firefox/Mozilla a crash prone mess, and do not recommend it).
I ask you to give it a try "straight out of the box" with sites that give you trouble.

Try the "offbyone" browser. You can get it at download.com. It's real fast, reads FR great and NO pop-ups, because the technology used is too simple for pop-up programs. Downloads in 3 minutes, even on dialup.
The only problem with it is that when you refresh a thread, it reposts your last comment!

Try Ashampoo, which you can find on CNET. It's also a system utility, cleaner for registry, etc., etc.
Works great on my dialup; page loading did NOT degrade at all.
Only problem: you have to buy it--but they will negotiate a price with you. Take the 30-day test first.

I have dial up to, but recently added Zone Alarm Pro and McAfee antivirus and haven't had a pop-up since. Great software.
Popups and spyware are in the same category as telemarketers, and should receive the same fate. The biggest boondoggle for my dial up is heavy graphics, or unwanted "flash" animation. I get on the net for information and hate to wait on some animated garbage that runs for the glory of the programmer, before I can get info. Usually, if there is not a "skip intro" button, I just go back and search for another site before it can even load...same with heavy graphics.

I have high-speed JOI at 12.95 a month . I use a free pop-up block(Yahoo) and free ZoneAlarm firewall . I also use AVG anti-virus(free) and SpyBot Search and Destroy(also free). I have no problems now , whereas I used to before this inexpensive combination .
I have been hi-jacked a couple of times , and it sucks . these jokers should be strung up !!
