I don't know about the various Protestant faiths, but the Roman Catholic Church officially recognizes Muslims as worshipping the same God they do.

As I said to blackmuslim, it's not about the translations, it's about the Character.

Allah is not just the word "god" translated into Arabic. Allah has a very different character than the One who revealed Himself to Abraham and Moses, and a very different character than the One who revealed Himself in Jesus.

They can not be different names for the same being.

Shalom.

Abraham, Moses, and Jesus are all considered prophets in the Islamic faith. They add things to what they said. Theologically speaking, the relationship is much like Christianity to Judaism, or Mormonism to Christianity. At least that's how the Catholic Church sees it. Other churches may have other views.

Some Muslims pervert their faith, but so do some Christians.

Abraham, Moses, and Jesus are all considered prophets in the Islamic faith.

But Jesus is G-d Himself in the Christian faith. According to the Christian faith, G-d Himself proclaimed Jesus to be G-d.

If G-d Himself declared Jesus to be nothing more than a prophet in Islam, then one of the following is possible:

I reject the first. G-d would not lie.

If the third is true, then it doesn't matter what anyone thinks about a figment of men's imagination.

Since I believe G-d does exist, I am left only with the second possibility.

I do believe that it could be possible that someone who has never heard the Gospel but who has heard the Koran and who has served the G-d of the Koran faithfully, recognizing in him the character of Jesus Christ (the G-d of the Gospels), could be saved. I do not know. That is in G-d's hands. But one who does not proclaim that Jesus is G-d is not worshipping the same G-d as the Christians worship. As much as I respect the Holy Church, I don't always agree with her.

Shalom.
