TEL AVIV, Israel, June 11 (UPI) -- A Palestinian couple frustrated over their inability to marry approached Israeli lines hoping to be shot together, it was reported Friday.

Soldiers suspected the couple were not militants and held their fire, the Yediot Aharonot newspaper said on its Web site.

The couple in their late 20s have been friends for six years and upon questioning, told officials they could not marry because of a dispute between their families, a military source told United Press International. They decided suicide was their only option.

They approached the Kfar Darom settlement early Wednesday. The woman dropped her bag when soldiers approached and hugged the man when soldiers pointed their guns at them. Soldiers asked the woman to move aside so they could search the man, but she would not let go of him until shots were fired in the air.

After searching and questioning the pair, the army released them, confident they were not affiliated with any terrorist organizations.

What about the murder of the pregnant mother and her babies?

thats pretty good. however do you understand the purpose of any of those revelations. and yes i do see how someone with limited understand could misunderstand the meaning, including muslims.

Having spent several years studying islam, I can honestly say I do. Muslims are allowed to lie in order to present islam in a better light. That is why it is best to know thine enemy. As a woman islam is my enemy! As a non-muslim islam is my enemy! As a freedom lover islam is my enemy! As an American islam is my enemy!

It is always best to study your enemy!

However, the simple fact is... as a non-Christian, I have very little to fear from the hundreds of millions of Xtians around me; the likelihood of being stoned to death, shot, burned or otherwise done away with for my heretical beliefs is pretty minimal.

In the present day, yes. IMO, the Muslim world needs a healthy dose of Enlightenment rationalism.

Hundreds of years ago, one could logically fear such things in "Christian" Europe. There's a certain historical irony in the fact that many Jews found refuge in the Muslim-run Ottoman Empire.

There are parts of the Muslim word that indeed need that Englightenment. It's possible one of the reasons they lag is migration. Many American Muslims, perhaps most, came here to escape their more fundamentalist-minded coreligionists.

however i am a black american, whose religion is ISLAM.

How completely sad. Especially when you consider that the only religion who still believes in and keeps slaves in these modern times, is islam. Also when you consider it was in Protestant Christian churches of the West that the movement to end slavery came from. Just sad.

Not to mention you respect islam enough to capitalize the word but not America.

so timothy mcviegh, and the KKK are the role models of Christianity?

Last time I looked Timothy McViegh's reasons had nothing to do with Christianity but had to do with governments role.

But what really makes me sick is saying that the KKK has to do anything with Christianity when every Christian denomination denounces that organization as having nothing to do with Christianity. But hey why not misdirect and lie to make your point, muslims are good at it. Lets not let truth have anything to do with reality.

Those would appear to be heads of state, such statements were to be expected from them.

What about the Imams? Shirley you have some thing from them.

My response was to an observation that heads of states condemned the attacks but "no Muslims" did.

As for Imams Muslim Condemnations of 9/11(pop-up heavy link):

Muslim leaders speak out against violence and terrorism In the aftermath of the violence and horror of 9/11, criticisms were made that Muslim leaders and organizations were not outspoken enough in denouncing acts of terrorism. Muslims are constantly perplexed by this accusation, as we heard (and continue to hear) nothing but unequivocal and unified condemnations by the leaders of our community, both in the United States and worldwide. But for some reason, people are not listening.

For the record, the inhuman attacks of September 11 were condemned in the strongest terms by virtually all Islamic leaders, organizations, and countries. The Grand Mufti of Saudi Arabia summarized that, "...hijacking planes, terrorizing innocent people and shedding blood, constitute a form of injustice that cannot be tolerated by Islam, which views them as gross crimes and sinful acts."

For more statements by Islamic leaders, see the following compilations:

Scholars of Islam and the Tragedy of September 11th - statements compiled by over 50 professors of Islamic Studies and Middle Eastern Studies from the U.S.

Islamic Statements Against Terrorism in the Wake of the September 11 Mass Murders - compiled by Professor Charles Kurzman, University of North Carolina

Muslim American Groups Denounce Terrorist Attacks - from the U.S. Department of State, September 12, 2001

Kuala Lumpur Declaration on International Terrorism - unanimously adopted at the April 2002 conference of the Islamic Conference of Foreign Ministers (held by the 56 member nations/states of the Organization of Islamic Conference)

I don't know about the various Protestant faiths, but the Roman Catholic Church officially recognizes Muslims as worshipping the same God they do.

Gee I am truly sorry if the Catholic Church has fallen so far as to recognize muslims, how sad. Protestant Churches who still follow the Bible do not, though there are several Protestant Churches who have fallen away from Biblical teachings so maybe they will but they have no power with Christians who believe the Bible. Not much of a recognition, I would not want it, and I am somehow surprised a muslim would want churches who are marrying gays to endorse them. LOL! I guess you get what has sunk low enough in their "Christianity" to recognize you.

I missed the part where the Roman Catholic Church is allowing gays to marry. It remains the largest of the Christian churches, worldwide, so I'd say its views on the topic mean something.

President Bush has also said that he believes that Muslims worship the same God as Christians.

so GOD was a man?

Yes! Christians believe God came in human form, lived a perfect sinless life, and died for our sins that we might be saved.

But hey, Mohamed said he was only a prophet who never died on the cross that it was all made up. So this prophet was to be listened to but everything about him was a lie. Just one of the many contradictions in the koran. What a joke.

Atta also killed in the name of islam! His group came from die hard islamist. Nice try.

Atta decided to kick it up on his last night on earth, so what! His reasons were his islamic upbringing and associations and beliefs.

Actually, Islam believes that Jesus was conceived by God and that Mary was a virgin when he was born. Yes, Islam rejects the crucifixion.

i converted because the truth came to light, as it will for all of you too.

LIGHT???? What a joke! Try actually spending a year studying Judaism and then a year studying Christianity. Not just the religion but the justifications for them and the arguments for and against them including historical records, the archaeological records, and the science found within. Then do it for islam. There is no comparison. Islam is the outhouse full of lies.

I missed the part where the Roman Catholic Church is allowing gays to marry.

Try rereading what I actually wrote! I was talking about the liberal far gone Protestant Churches not the Catholic Church with that remark. Nice try at redirection.

President Bush has also said that he believes that Muslims worship the same God as Christians.

When Bush becomes my pastor instead of my politician then I will really worry rather than just being sad a his political expediency.

IIRC, Islam denies the Divinity of Christ. so did jesus

WHAT!!!!!!!!!??????? As a supposed former Christian you are showing your ignorance!!!! Maybe you should have figured out what you were supposed to have believed as a Christian before falling for the lies of islam. Once again just sad.

You're forgetting that my opinion of Hamas is about the same as yours.

I'm not asking about your opinion.

I'm asking for links of "typical Palestinians" condemning the murder to Tali Hatuel and her babies. You are not as forthcoming as you were when I asked for links of "settlers" attacking "innocent Palestinians" when you cited the bogus Jack Kelley article and defended it as "truth."

Just a recommendation: STFU.
