The French had no problem with rounding up and deporting Jews. Didn’t need Germans or imported troops, the French police handled the “Jewish Problem” just fine on their own, under the direction of Papon. Just following orders, of course, from Vichy.
When you view this in the context of the slap on the wrist penalties for anti-Semitic attacks, French Justice Rewards Anti-Semitism (Let's All Agree *Not* To Liberate These Clowns Next Time...) but jail time for those slandering murdered Frenchmen, Teacher jailed for making revisionist Nazi film , it’s hard not to draw ugly conclusions regarding recent French culture.
Hard? It's not hard at all for me. France has a big problem and they had better crack down on these people now. But it appears they are not cracking down on this, so, predictably, it gets worse.
And who cares? That's what I want to know. Who cares? Who can I send a check to?
And even more importantly, where is the world's condemnation of this stuff? Of children being stabbed or having their faces carved with a swastika? Why is this stuff not on the front pages of the papers here?
When is Bush going to call the Frenchies and say hey, what's wrong with this picture?
