LIVE THREAD--Reagan State Funeral Ceremony: Lying in State at the Rotunda (6/11/04)
Oh wow,you must have been 7 yoa!!!We were really smart little tykes were we not? LOL!
Thank you SCR !
And that was nice/interesting about Nancy getting her 'old' SS agent back this week.
From what I can tell...
Michael has 2 kids.
Maureen and her husband adopted an older child.
Patti's not married
Ron just has a wife.
RR had a brother, I'm sure he had family that is there too.
Prince Charles is the officially representing Great Britain. PM Blair is a guest.
As for all union leaders -- totally unaffected by the strike. Continued to draw their salaries/benefits, etc and retire with pension/benefits, etc.
Yep! Just the fact that a whole generation who never really knew about Reagan is hearing about all the good things he did, and seeing the outpouring of grief, has got to be killing them.
The Demonrats are just spoiled brats.
BBBBBBBBBBBBBWWWWWWWWWWWWAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!
What a shame our culture is so crass and obscene now.
May the curse they cast on everyone else find them out.
bttt
I don't think it was an aide he expressed it to - it was the bimbo du jour next to him in bed as they were having their cigar and cigarette after some great sex.
I watched the funeral service today away from the computer and then went to see Dad at the nursing home. In the smoke room, I had to listen to a couple aids complain about the cost of flying Reagan's "dead a$$" from California to DC and back again and how he never did nothing for the country. There's only a couple I worked with here that shared my views and most times I was by myself surrounded by Bush and Reagan haters.
This is when I get a little mad at myself that I don't start arguing with them. But I'm not big on confrontation and especially when I'm outnumbered. I can articulate fairly well on forums like this but in person, I'm a bumbling idiot.
I wanted to say to them, "Oh I understand how you feel; I'll feel the same when Bubba's body is cold and dead" but I just am unable to get the words out of my throat. Makes me think that I am a coward.
President George W. Bush and first lady Laura Bush pay their respects at the casket containing the body of former President Ronald Reagan as he lies in state in the U.S. Capitol Rotunda in Washington, June 10, 2004. Reagan, the nation's 40th president, will lie in state in the Capitol until his formal state funeral at Washington's National Cathedral on June 11. (William Philpott/Reuters)
Not a coward. Sometimes it's important to know when to walk away. Sometimes it's just better to walk away. You can show people with cold hard facts, pictures, testimony and video tape and they will still argue because they have been brain-washed.
I'm going to cry again.
My God, what a splendid week this has been. I have cried so many tears this week. I shall never forget this week and its farewell to the first President I was proud to cast a vote for. To top this week off...my 5-year old son graduated from Kindergarten today and the children sang God Bless America....the sweet lovely faces of our future in this most beloved land, the United States of America. This country of ours is the greatest and that has shown out this week. This week started for me with the box of Kleenex watching the D-Day ceromonies, having a cold and now our farewell to our most beloved Ronald Wilson Reagan and still the boxes of Kleenex. I love you President Reagan and I will never forget you, not ever. At times this week, watching my fellow citizens pass by your casket and honor your life, I have been breathless. God Bless America! forever and ever.
What you heard in Henry V was "Nom Nobus Domine"
What you heard during the procession on the way out after the choral singing of "Mansions of the Lord" from We Were Soldiers was the same only instrumental.
Moral darkness ended when Reagan became president. It again appeared during eight years of treachery and now the light is again brightly shining in America. A beacon of hope for the world.
IMHO, it was less about Reagan per se, but about our inherent values and unwillingness to accept their biased world view.
Americans got their power back this week and I doubt we'll relinquish it to the likes of Kerry and his band of America haters.
OldFriend, how true! This is the America we love and we have always loved and we will love to our eternity.
