I don't think so. I seriously think the "potatoe" thing would get him again.

Since that incident, we can all spell potato. Plural being potatoes where an "e" for some reason gets strung on...they did research finding that it was the easiest to misspell everyday word and set Quayle up for the embarrassment. Even if they think they can nail you 20% of the time, they will plan 5 public appearances for you and the laws of chance will eventually get you

Sounds crazy? Libs test these things with tax dollars and plot these things in their stink tanks ( universities ).

He needs to keep his mouth shut and stay away from GW or any contender for 08 [because he is not one of them!].

He is an intelligent, honorable man who would make a great president. Unforntunately, it will never happen. Quayle's political future is dead. He can make a living giving speeches and consulting with other candidates, but he can never get elected anything again.

Dan Quayle should have stayed in Indiana and ran for governor.

Since 1976, there has either been a Bush or a Dole on every Republican ticket... that means 2008 is Liddy Dole's turn.

It will combine both names.... wonder what the offspring of Richard Nixon and Thomas Dewey are doing these days....

The other day I watched as Reagan's casket was placed in the Rotunda. The camera panned the audience and it showed Dan Quayle staring up at the ceiling. Whatever it was, it caught his interest and only his, as no one else was looking at whatever it was. It took me a moment to ID him, once I did, I asked my wife, "What the heck is Quayle doing now?

I raised the possibility with my wife, who doesn't have much interest in politics (for SHAME!).

The first thing she said is, "isn't he the guy who couldn't spell 'potatoe'[sic]."

I proceded to explain how the media only focuses on the gaffes of those they don't like; for example, if you recall, Gore couldn't recognize GEORGE WASHINGTON! But, of course, the media ignored that (but Rush didn't).

Dan is a bright guy. It is a shame that the media has defamed him so egregiously.

Quayle has made a huge mistake in not running for governor of Indiana or Arizona, so that he can rehabilitate his image. For some stupid reason he apparently thinks he doesn't have to. I, as an early 20s student in the mid-1990s told him this at a book signing, but he said he thought he had a good shot at getting the Republican nomination in 1996. He'd make a great president, I think.

I'm just beginning to think about 2008. Why not? Have you seen hillary.org? They already are solicting support.

If Quayle can run under radar, build a base, and then "grand open" I think he might have a chance. I know I'd vote for him, and see many other responses to this post that say they would too.

Think of it this way. You talk has been vice presidents. How about this one? Saw the opportunity coming a mile away. Used his name and rep to support many candidates in the midterm elections. Stayed out of the limelight long enough to let the top guy take the heat (his name was Romney). Took off at just the right time, when the ground game was ready.

You may know already I'm talking Nixon's prep for '68.

You may say "Quayle has too many negatives." Not among the people who count. If a war protester could run for president, why not an honest man, who sat one chair away, who got a bum rap?
