Jesse Jackson and his ilk will loathe me for this, but...
The first place that I ever worked with anyone of a different race and learned to accept them as my equal was in Ronald Reagan's United States Navy. We were all brothers united by a common ideal - the service of our country. A quarter century later I treasure those friendships more than any that have come since. We were defending a common idea. Our nation, and the man who led and guarded us.
May God bless the man who led us during those years, and the Americans of all races, creeds, and colors who served along side me during that time, brothers and sisters all. you are the best people I have ever known, and I am honored to have served with you.

I always say that the liberals hate the military because they do what liberals only bloviate about.

FReepers are going to think I'm a book fanatic, but I do not see how anyone could ever think Ronald Reagan was a racist in any fashion.

That is a line reserved for the Gipper, not you.
Reagan has the history books to back him. Bush will have his history written in 20 years; we will talk then.
Personally I think that Bush will win the next election and leave his legacy of fighting terrorism.
Difference= none.
Legacy= We will find out in 2008.
I'd wait if I was you.

President Reagan's own words speak volumes. Bump for the most eloquent and inspirational man I have known in my lifetime.

<< Like Reagan in both philosophy and spirit, George W. Bush is another hero of mine. Both of them great men: believers in God and country and consistently but misguidedly underestimated by both the media and Democrats – the party that now has less pro-American sentiment than exists in the city of Baghdad! ...... Today, by [God's Good Graces] ... we have a strong leader in President Bush, a man who will never compromise his ideals on the issues of freedom from terror and freedom for all. Since entering office, he has freed over 50 million people in two countries, an astounding accomplishment ..... May God bless our current President [And our Nation and the very Civilization we have long vanguarded -- and must forever guard] with another term, as he – like his predecessor, Mr. Reagan – is dedicated solely to the service of his country and to God. >> Amen.
