I never saw this coming. Another great one gone - again too early.

Thanks Hal. I'll be back when I get another Kleenex box.

I heard Ray Charles in concert in Portland five years ago. He was magnificent. When he sang America the Beautiful the entire "diverse" audience was moved and unified. I hope they play it at Reagan's funeral tomorrow.

Don't forget his version of "It's not that easy being green." Now all his songs are going through my head. "I can't stop lovin' you." So sad.

His rendition of "America the Beatiful" is an American treasure. A great talent.
I doubt there is any other county in which a guy who beat heroin could
get so many "squares" teary-eyed singing a patriotic song.
Rest in peace, Mr. Charles.

Maybe the impeached one will be asked to speak at this funeral. I don't like to even type his name.

One of my favorite Ray Charles'songs is the one used in National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. I think it's played while Chevy Chase's character is looking at the family films. It's a song about Christmas - "listening to a children's choir, singing songs about Jesus, and the way that he came to us".

I hope they play it at Reagan's funeral tomorrow. That would be a beautiful tribute to Ray Charles to have his beautiful Rendition played.

One of the most relaxing and spiritual concerts I ever attended was a Ray Charles outdoor concert about 12 years ago. It will be sometime before anyone brings his kind of talent to the music scene.

Somehow, I always assumed that Ray Charles would be around forever. A lot of us feel that way about the great men in our time.
