Oh, I am so glad you got to go!
I managed to get a pretty good feed from C-span and watched the whole thing. Had my mom on the phone from Florida and we just broke down, he meant so much to us.

I managed to tour the national Cathedral many years ago
on a side trip to the national blacksmiths convention, it's filled with work from famous blacksmiths and is a most aweinspiring place. My late business partner and I got the
Cooks tour as the head custodian was from Atlanta and liked
blacksmiths, we went from the cellars to the top of the bell tower and viewed ironwork everywhere.

Samuel Yellin, America's most famous blacksmith has tons of work there, including the children's chapel gates which have
hundreds of little wrought iron birds on them ALL different!

There is even a chapel there with a piece of the moon rock
mounted in a stained glass window.

Again, so glad you got to go, an thanks for thinking of us
poor freepers mourning here.

God Bless Nancy and her family and
God Bless America!

I know what you mean, Tom. He was one of a kind, and we were truly blessed to know him and have him at the helm during such a critical period in our history.

Your description of the ironwork in the National Cathedral is intriguing (especially the little one-of-a-kind birds) -- although, from the old pics I've seen, some of your own work is a true work of art itself (I guess your trip to the Cathedral amounted to an artist admiring the works of fellow artists :).

Thanks for the kind words, and the affirmation of Nancy and her family. She is a lady of incomparable strength and devotion, and I know that, even though he has not been with her for several years now, the final loss will be hard to endure. She will be in our prayers through this difficult time, asking that He will provide her the strength and comfort that only He can.

Stay well, Tom.
