If the Iranians can free themselves it will have far more lasting power. What is not earned is not valued or cared for.
Just look at Iraq...

I agree, they should free themselves. My impression of them is a mob running through the streets with pictures of Ayatollah Khomeini. They held us hostage for over a year, and to this day burn our flag and chant death to America. They have the government they deserve.

The source of Islamofascist terrorists are the mullahs who preach murder, hatred, suicide for sex, and the politics of victimhood that blame all the world's problems on the jews.

You are wrong! The Iranians didn't choose this type of Government and the former president carter didn't back the Shah and the country fell in hands of the hardliner mullahs.
Try to read more about Iran!

Along with stressing the need to instill Ayatollah Khomeini's legacy among the younger Iranians who never knew him,
I wonder if it has occured to them that the younger Iranians know all about Khomeini's legacy? And are less than thrilled with it.

A bunch of flea infested 7th century losers ... they have their ragheads stuck so far up their unwashed asses that they are beginning to see daylight past the uvula.

In terms of the actual presence of a government, what's the difference between not choosing a government and allowing it to continue? Ten's of thousands of dead. If your point is that the populace bears some, frequently high, degree of collective responsibility for the nature of their government, I'd agree.

Isn't it amazing that the Iranians weren't complaining a few months ago when we helped them after that massive earthquake?

How am I wrong? They wanted an Islamic revolution and they got it. They are welcome to it. If the Iranians had liked the Shah well enough they would have kept him.
