Al-Yawer, a Sunni from a powerful tribe, thanked America for the sacrifice of its men and women to free his country and pledged to repay that sacrifice by moving "in steady steps" toward democracy."We're determined to have a free, democratic, federal Iraq, a country that is a source of stability to the Middle East, which is very important for the rest of the world," he said.
"I'd like to thank the American people for the sacrifices that the brave men and women of the United States [made] toward trying to liberate Iraq.
"We're working with all our hearts to make sure that all these sacrifices of the Iraqis, as well as our friends in the coalition, will not go to [no] avail."

france really does need to be tossed out of NATO. They are not part of the military arm of NATO and all they do is shoot their mouths off about military matters. Toss them out of the organization.
This is encouraging.
BUMP!
At least one of them gets it.
BTTT
And for that worm, Chirac, to be here and then go home before Pres. Reagan's funeral is positively THE LAST STRAW! And then the French want to whine about us boycotting them. I held a bottle of French wine in my hands for the first time in months the other day and was tempted to buy it at a bargain price. I'm so glad now that I put it back on the shelf. Never again...or at least until Chirac has had his funeral. I hope we send a dogcatcher from a tiny village in Arkansas to his funeral, or skip it altogether.
I changed from French to Italian wine. I like my wine like my countries, willing to fight back.
Tom Daschle is deeply saddened.
France left NATO in 1966, then threw the US and Canadian airbases out. Under DeGaulle, no less.
The citizens of Eastern Europe, Germany, and Central America are forever grateful for what Reagan did. The people of Iraq and Afghanistan will be similarly grateful for what Dubya did. And the whining and moaning of the leftists? A decade from now no one will know who they are.
That's because they never free anyone. They're perfectly happy to let millions rot under the oppression of leftist tyrants. What did Clinton do for anyone in his eight years? Blew up a few camels in the desert and an aspirin factory, sent whacko Reno in to incinerate a bunch of US citizens in Texas, and kissed up to Fidel by sending an innocent child back to live in the island paradise Castro has built. Carter? Cripes, he sold out the Shah (who admittedly was no prize when it came to democratic principles) and in his place got something far worse.
Contrast that with what Reagan, Bush 41, and G. W. Bush have accomplished. Millions living in freedom now in Eastern Europe. A united Germany. The collapse of our primary geopolitical rival. Elimination of two terrorist regimes who had nothing but evil intent for us. Why the electorate in this country can't see past their own selfish noses and perceive this stark contrast in principles and ideals fulfilled versus empty rhetoric and failure is beyond me.
The Dems are hating all this progress.
Bullseye! Right on target, chimera!
Yup. Reagan liberated the eastern Europeans, Bush41 liberated Kuwait and Bush43 liberated Afghanistan and Iraq. Bill Clinton liberated Mark Rich.
Excellent rant. BUMP
Good one. Thanks. I'd left that off the list. Bush 41 had a tremendous record of positive achievement in foreign policy yet the sheeple threw him out in favor of a liar and sexual deviant whose policies (more like non-action) led to what happened on 9/11. I have no doubt that if Saddam had launched his invasion of Kuwait with a Rat in the Oval Office, he'd have today not only Kuwait but probably Saudi Arabia and the rest of the Arabian peninsula. He'd have run wild, at least until he ran up against the Israeli army (wherein there is more courage and fortitude in the lowliest enlisted ranks to stand up to the barbarian murderers than there is in the entire Rat party in this country).
