Posted on 06/09/2004 5:43:00 PM PDT by CGVet58

Missed this part of the Funeral - does anybody have the text yet, and if so, could you please post it?

Many thanks,

There's something about his voice.

I'll never forget his comment about the progression of Saddam Hussein...

"....from palace to bunker to spiderhole to jail."

It was an exceotional speech and perfect for the moment. Stark contrast to Stevens and, to a lesser extent, Hastert.

A little off topic, but does anyone know if the procession will be repeated on any channel? My wife just got back from a business trip and missed it all. Thanks!

I viewed it in it's entirety on CSPAN's Internet stream. I'm sure you can access it at their site.

You missed and excellent presentation full of meaning and sensitivity for the occasion.

The VP did a great job and in the very best of decorum and taste.

It was from T.S. Eliot, and the turn refered to the verse from Ecclesiastes.

To All:

Vice President Cheney's remarks were moving and truly wonderful. I want to know, however, did ANYONE see that smug smile on Pelosi's pie-hole during Speaker Hastert's remarks as "the camera scanned the likes of Maxine Waters and other illiterate dems....?" Was it just me; was I imagining it?

He is very much underrated as an orator and. for that matter, as an extemporaneous speaker.

Stevens....ugh. The first invocation....double ugh......it was all uphill from there! But of course, Cheney was awesome as was Reverend Black at the end.

Seeing Margaret Thatcher was the most touching moment.

Contrary to Chris Mathews, HE WAS UP TO THE OCAISION!!!

A magnificent speech from a true American.

Which chaplain was which? I liked the benediction, but it was clear the invocation was from a chaplain who was afraid of stepping on anybody's toes by being too clear that this was a prayer.

Daniel Coughlin was the house chaplain whose prayer included something about globalization.

The reference in the Vice President's eulogy to the 'the wheel' may refer to Ecclesiastes 12:6, a chapter which contains a lot of symbolism regarding the process of growing old and passing away.
