I remember when Jim Rogan told this story before, several years ago.
For those who don't know, Congressman James Rogan was the son of a cocktail waitress, raised in really crummy conditions, sent to live with his grandmother when his mom found a new boyfriend. He worked his way through school. His family was really poor.
I have always expected greater things from him in the years ahead. He is a true American story of achievement.

I was highly impressed by his performance as a House Manager during impeachment. In spite of a hostile electorate back in his constituency, he pursued the law and conscience.
He would make a fine senator to replace the liberal has-beens from California, at the very least.

I have heard Rogan speak of his background, but had never heard this story.
Perhaps this brush with Ronald Reagan in his teens
is what compelled Rogan to pursue a career in politics.
