[history]
Montgomery County public school officials said yesterday they will not report to federal authorities illegal immigrants whom they discover in a new residency verification effort.
Such information "is part of students' confidential records, and we have no intention of sharing the information with any law-enforcement authority, be it local, state or national," said Brian J. Porter, spokesman for school Superintendent Jerry D. Weast. "The only access would come through a court-ordered subpoena, and I don't foresee that happening."

As the late great RWR might say, "There they go again."
Some how the commies of Mongmery County Maryland believe that it is ok to waste resources educating illegal aliens.
If the citizens were to demand a cut in the school budget by 10 percent maybe reporting of illegals might be of interest.

Yeah, but try to bring a squirt gun to school and watch all hell break loose.

it so nice when "public officials" aid and abet criminal behavior!
I charge the moral citizens to ARREST thos officials and charge them with criminal conspiracy - you have the right to make a citizen's arrest!
No guts - No country.

"because only county residents citizens and illegal aliens alike pay the local taxes that support the schools."No federal money? Yeah, right.

" school Superintendent Jerry D. Weast."
The guy used to be my county's school super. I was glad when Montgomery County took him off our hands, but his succesor is even worse than Weast was.

How can you be resident of a county, when you are not a resident of the country?
I am also interested in the idea that an elected official (or a bureaucrat) can decide what laws they will comply with.

Someone needs to inform this friggin' idiot (Porter) that this policy is a direct violation of federal law by aiding and abetting illegals. These bleeding hearts in school systems such as this should also be reminded their "it takes a village" approach is slowly bankrupting this country.

"If the citizens were to demand a cut in the school budget by 10 percent maybe reporting of illegals might be of interest." Very simple solution. Any school district that fails to report will lose all federal funding. If they can do it to the states to force us to wear seat belts, then they can do it to the school systems to force reporting of criminal activity.

Schools get ADA, or money per
student. So, they are inclined to NOT tell if there are illegal aliens attending their school as they would then lose money for running the school.
Did you see the special on the district near San Diego where the vast majority of students stream across the border from Mexico each day to attend US school?
It is a travesty. As a Californian, I am irate that my pocket is picked every year to educate another country's citizens; people who have no allegiance to the United States, California, or myself.
The Republicans won't do anything about this as they don't want a 'racist' label, and the Democrats won't do anything either as many illegally vote for them in elections.

There should be some way to use this as just cause for denying that any federal monies be allocated to the Montgomery County Schools...if not the entire county government as a whole.

See? He says they're not getting any federal money. Believe that?

Aiding and abetting known criminals. Wonderful... :-/
Need help forming a posse to go and arrest these school officials?

20 percent ... of the county's 11,000 eighth-graders ... will not be allowed to attend high school next year.parents ... who have not provided proof of residence still might be worried about their immigration status being revealed.
Well. Sounds like the problem may have solved itself. Fear of being caught is often an excellent incentive -- or disincentive, in this case.

Such information "is part of students' confidential records, and we have no intention of sharing the information with any law-enforcement authority, be it local, state or national,"
Does that apply to "hate speech" also, or are we only going to enforce the laws that we deem "Politically Correct"?
citizens and illegal aliens alike pay the local taxes that support the schools.
Really? How does one pay taxes if they don't have a SS# or a Taxpayer ID? I thought the whole benefit of hiring an illegal was that they'd work off the books? You mean employers voluntarily pay the payroll tax for illegals? Maybe that would be a good way to catch them, look for employers who are overpaying payroll tax...
I'd suggest eliminating any funding to Montgomery County for any program whatsoever until they decide to start enforcing laws that are on the books.

The Republicans won't do anything about this as they don't want a 'racist' label, It's not just that. ....They also want to keep the steady stream of cheap labor a-comin' to satisfy their corporate donors, who in turn keep the GOP coffers full.
