Try viewing the french through that political spectrum and their actions become transparent and entirely predictable, albeit still despicable and utterly shortsighted. I don't think Chirac would have not been invited. Mrs. Reagan is far too elegant to have committed such an error in manners. Thus Chirac is being rude on his own.
