final numbers was 106,000 at the library, and it would basically have been physically impossible for any more to come in the time alloted.

Having been one of the many who waited in line through most of the early morning today, that number could have been at least 30,000 higher. Time and time again, it would be more than fifteen minutes before a single bus left, with delays up to 30 minutes.

At about 2am, Ventura County Sheriff deputies came and 'secured' the memorial books that visitors signed after leaving the bus from the library, suggesting that people come back at 7am to sign them.

And alas, drunks, making themselves into a security nightmare, kept trying to hop the police lines to get into the secured area, causing further delays. In addition, buses were routed onto the 118 freeway, getting caught in the huge backups on there. Whereas a bit earlier, every bus was escorted by police through any traffic, a force reduction at about midnight cut off the help.

It wasn't until nearly four am that additional buses finally arrived, along with mutual aid officers from Los Angeles County and the Highway Patrol. Finally, by the time dawn brighten the sky, those who had arrived around midnight were boarding buses to go to the library to pay their respects.

Do you mean they don't have an accurate count because they took the books? Surely they counted another way.

But I don't think lack of buses was really an issue... I went to bed around 330am, and CSPAN and Fox had a live shot at that time of people continuously walking by the casket... There was never a moment when people weren't walking past it...

There were no memorial books out to be signed when I was there...

Please check with your local funeral homes to see if they have a guest book for you to sign. Some of them are doing this out of respect for the Reagan family and the people who can't attend any of the memorials. Just call and ask them and maybe even ask them if they would do it.

We have a friend that owns a funeral home and they are doing it here. Also I think the local churches all over the country are going to ring their bells all at the same time after the funeral on Friday. Please ask your church if they are participating in this.

If you all don't mind please pass on this message for everyone to check it out.
